We started the lesson by playing the A blues leads - part one and two. Rob has pretty much memorized both of them. They were sounding great. Then, we transcribed a bit of "Killing Floor" by Albert King. Rob had figured out all the licks in the first couple of verses as well as the first solo. We went over everything to correct any minor errors. We finished off by recording the intro to "Black Magic Woman" by Santana. Rob had been working on it for the last little while. It was definitely challenging for him but he really worked hard on it to get all the subtleties. Great work! Press play to have a listen...

Jordi has been really practicing hard. He recently completed the solo for "Seize the Day" by Avenged Sevenfold (which you can listen to by scrolling through the playlist on the mp3 player). His latest project has been "Comfortably Numb" by Pink Floyd. Today we recorded it. Press play to hear it. It came out really well! Excellent work. Next, we will revisit the solo for "Stairway to Heaven". We started it over a year ago but didn't really finish it. It's time.

Karen has been working really hard on her chords and chord progressions. For the last month or so, it's been her number one priority. She has really made progress. Karen is a singer and a songwriter. Her main goal when we started was to be able to accompany herself. She's starting to be able to do it. Karen will be performing her original songs, accompanied by Dan Kelly on guitar, on Saturday, December 9 at the Yellow Door. The address is 3625 Aylmer (between Prince Arthur and Pine Ave). Tickets are $12 and the doors open at 7:30 pm.

When Thomas arrived this morning, the first thing he told me was that he had made up a song. I asked him to play it for me right away. It sounded really cool so I decided that we should record it. I handed Thomas my electric to play but then realized that Thomas plays left-handed! I had to set up a microphone in front of Thomas' nylon string guitar and give him headphones. It was a real recording session. I ended up playing Thomas' original guitar part on electric while he played some chords I showed him that went with it. I added some drums and bass and voila, a song is born. Press play on the mp3 player to hear it.
