It's hard to believe that this was the fifth "Live From The Garage" show. What a crazy two years filled with hard work and a lot of fun. I'm really lucky to have such a great group of students. It's really an honor to be your teacher. I want to thank my wife, Cara, for her continued support and a special thanks also to Mario, Mark, Jay, Rick, Trevor, Ken and Ron for donating your time. We all really appreciate it. Thank you to everyone who has come out to our shows and supported these hard working musicians! The one comment I heard over and over again Friday night was that all the bands seem to have really improved. For two of the bands, this was their third performance and it showed. So here are the bands:
Cardova was the first band of the night. They played all Meters songs and did an excellent job. This is them playing "Same Old Thing". The J. Stein Blues Experience! played second and rocked the house with the classic Stones song "Last Time", back up singers and all. Breaking Tables played third and this time, Simon made the show! They played a great version of "Sunshine of Your Love" by Cream. Great work on the solo, Emma! The Falling Project was on next. They played a heavy set which was kicked off with the song "Buddy Holly" by Weezer. The last band of the evening was The Daft Devils. They played a high energy set which began with "Another Girl, Another Planet" by Blink 182. Here are some photos. Here are some more photos!
After all the students performed, there was the after party. This was the first one of its kind and I had no idea how it would turn out. I'm happy to say that it was great! I would really like to thank everyone who brought food. I couldn't believe how much there was, and it was all really good too! Four bands played the after party and it was a great mix of music. The line up was Funktion of Soul, Nightwood, Maica & Friends and Fastwalkers. I really enjoyed all the bands. Check them out:
